Hello there 🙂
Once December is over, we're inundated almost entirely by a certain clique of nail polish: moody, practically black shades of purple, deep reds that go with a rich dash of Merlot, and seasonally festive pairings like candy cane red and white. Going to the dark side (i.e. the nail polish spectrum) is usually only accepted at this time of year, but doesn't have to be to have to be like that.
Of course, we love our collection of berries, emeralds, and plums as much as anyone else (going deeper and darker just feels festive after all!), But we're also fans of wanting to bend the rules a little and prioritize every shade of nail polish we. As long as we love it, we want to wear it this December. Since we spend year round testing and reviewing nail polish, we share all of the standout features and the exact hues we have on our December It List – even if we plan to wear them into the New Year as well . From juicy reds to creamy browns, we share our top nail polish picks from December 20th below. Keep scrolling!
We love shiny and metallic nail polish 365 days a year, but the holidays make us even more inclined to add extra shine to our nails. From shades of steel blue of shimmering silver to iridescent white that is reminiscent of delicate snowflakes, we're here for all of the shades listed below this December.
Red is always chic and we look forward to playing with all kinds of iterations in the classic shade this winter. Yes, we have your epitome of ox blood courtesy of Chanel & # 39; s Rouge Noir ($ 28), but sparkling berry tones and a shock of apple red candy are also in the running.
Earlier this year, we reported that brown nail polish was suddenly the only color that mattered this fall, and we're still just as obsessed with wintry December. Choose a shade similar to your skin tone for the perfect nude or a contrasting shade (light brown for deeper skin and dark brown for lighter skin) for a bolder statement. At the moment our heads are raving about carob, light cocoa, cinnamon … The list goes on and on.
Sapphire blues and is-it-or-is-not-it-black-marine tones are synonymous with December, as are the advent calendar and pumpkin pie. That said, we leaned more on the lighter side – gray blue, pastel blue, shimmery iridescent blues, and even vibrant turquoise tones reminiscent of a quirky 1957 Cadillac.
Simply put, it just wouldn't feel like December without at least one few iconic vampire purple tones on our Polish menu. So while we've included one of the most iconic colors of all time (um, OPIs Lincoln Park After Dark, $ 9), we also have big plans to adorn our nails with gold-speckled plum tones and heavenly swirls of purple lavender – aka the less predictable, albeit faint purple tones.
