Advertising * | Every year in the last week of September I indulge in memories of our unforgettable study trip to Rome at the time. Especially now in autumn it is particularly advisable to visit the ‘Eternal City’. With pleasant temperatures of just over 20 degrees one can wonderfully explore the architectural masterpieces of the city on foot. Not to mention the atmospheric, soft light atmosphere and the play of colors, which can only be experienced there at this time of the year. Since my husband and I have been to Rome a total of two times – once by train and once by plane – I can compare both types of travel well and, based on my experience, clearly recommend the train journey.
Because in addition to the widespread assumption that traveling by plane is the fastest and most efficient way to get from A to B, flying is no longer that fast if you consider the entire travel time and not just the flight itself how often assumed. Especially in times of Corona, it is certainly also nerve-wracking to have to go through all the security checks in the airports. But the impact on the environment also clearly speaks against the airplane as the means of travel of choice. Traveling by train is definitely more comfortable for me: the seats are generally spacious, keyword: legroom, and in most cases there are no major security checks. In addition, the journey allows views of the picturesque landscapes of the various regions – from the Swiss Alps to the green hills of Tuscany. Last but not least, most of Europe's major train stations are located directly in the city center, which saves expensive taxi rides to and from the airport.
For everyone who has now got the taste for planning a spontaneous tour to Rome or another European city in autumn, I can recommend the Omio * portal, where you can easily compare and book train, bus and flight tickets. In a matter of seconds you have all the options at a glance and you can use practical filters to find the perfect trip for you.
Regarding my travel outfit: If I have to sit longer while traveling, I naturally prefer comfortable clothing. My fashionable travel favorites therefore include loosely cut trousers that do not restrict, a top or sweater made of breathable natural fabric and light and comfortable sneakers, depending on the season.
