Hello there 🙂
Let's face it, I think the pursuit of perfect skin is one we've all been in since we got our first taste of acne in seventh grade. Now, as a junior at school, I have been testing various skincare products for years – the good, the bad and the ugly – and I have come to the conclusion that the price is NOT the same. Until about four years ago, I had to struggle with stubborn ugly mistakes that, no matter what I did, would not disappear. For a while, I simply accepted that I had and always had acne, no matter how much time and money I spent on fancy facials and luxurious skin care products that promised that all my problems would disappear.
It was only in my first year of high school that I began to make some subtle changes that almost immediately cleanse my skin: I began to pay attention to what I ate and drank and did not spend so much money on my skincare. Through referrals from friends and dermatologists, I was introduced to products that not only keep my skin clear and healthy, but are actually
I know what you think – you have to spend less money on skincare
and have a flawless complexion? It's almost too good to be true. Continue reading for the top nine skincare products under US $ 50, where I swear the skin is clear and radiant all year round. My number one, exceptionless rule for flawless skin? NEVER SLEEP WHEN THE MAKEUP IS ON. I do not care how tired, lazy or busy you are. Washing your face at the end of the day is a must (whether you are makeup or not). Consistent sleeping with makeup causes eyelash breakage, wrinkles and of course acne through clogged pores. I've tried (and then given up) a whole range of make-up removers, from chemically attacked make-up removers to rough cloths that did more harm than good to my skin. My favorite all-natural make-up remover for face and eyes is the jojoba oil from Trader Joe – and it was recommended to me by my dermatologist. Jojoba oil is one of the few natural oils that fight against acne with its anti-inflammatory properties and at the same time removes every trace of make-up from the heavy foundation to the most stubborn mascara. With clean hands I massage this oil on all areas on which I applied makeup, and then wash it off with my facial cleanser. During the winter or when my skin is drier, I also like to add a few drops of it to my moisturizer. Investing in a great facial cleanser is a must for clear and healthy skin. This is a breeze, but I have overlooked it for years! Some popular detergents on the market use harsh chemicals that can rid your face of the natural oils and cause irritation (hello, redness!). I've been using the iS Clinical Cleansing Complex for two years and can confidently say that it has changed the texture of my skin. It is suitable for all skin types and contains a combination of organic nutrients, antioxidants and mild surface renewal ingredients that thoroughly cleanse the skin without removing its natural oils. I used to wash my face only at night, as I was prone to dryness, until a beautician told me that washing my face in the morning is important in preventing outbreaks, as we often sweat in our sleep. Fortunately, this cleaner is gentle enough to use in the morning and in the evening without drying out the skin (even in winter). Did you know that excessive sun exposure is the leading cause of premature aging? Sunscreens are crucial not only for toned, radiant skin in your twenties, but also for a skin that gets older. My preferred sunscreen for the face is Elta MD's broad-spectrum sunscreen for the face (SPF 46). The formula was developed by dermatologists for skin prone to acne and is oil-free. The sunscreen comes in clear what I'm wearing under makeup, or in a toned shade for days, if you want a little more coverage. I wear this daily and apply after the moisturizer on a pump on the face and neck. So many young adults overlook the importance of wearing sunscreen to prevent discoloration and wrinkles, but it really is the key to dignified aging. Trust me, your future self will thank you. As a student I do not try to break the bank on my skincare routine. That being said, I have learned not to overlook drugstore products. Believe it or not, in your local CVS you will find some of my favorite products for a perfect skin! One of them is Garnier's Micellar Cleansing Water, which you've probably heard of. The French skin care secret purifies your pores and at the same time binds the moisture of your skin. I love to use this after washing my face morning and night for a radiant complexion. Just apply some micellar water to a cotton pad and gently rub it like a toner on your skin. After the water has dried, continue with your usual skincare. This product is also great as a make-up remover if you are not interested in oil purification. Another drugstore product that I religiously use is CeraVes PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion. Although it is a nighttime product, I use this moisturizer in the morning and in the evening. The ultra-light and oil-free lotion is perfect for moisturizing the skin without being greasy and, above all, without causing it to break loose. For years I jumped from cream to cream and tried to find one that would not overwhelm me with white heads. Not only is he ridiculously affordable, he also does his job perfectly. Sometimes we can do everything right and still wake up with an unwanted pimple (especially at this time of the month). It is inevitable! But if it happens, leave the stain alone. I can still hear my mother screaming in my ninth grade, as she herself gets spotty: "YOU MAKE IT BAD!", She would say. I needed dozens of acne scars, some of which I still have today to finally realize she was right. If you are not an approved dermatologist, you probably do not know what you are doing. Poppy pimples can aggravate blemishes and cause anti-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, especially if you're prone to scars like me. While tempting, spare yourself the pain and dry out the stain instead. Mario Badescu's Drying Lotion is one of the most popular skin care products for a reason. This magical spot treatment uses salicylic acid, sulfur and zinc oxide to remove impurities from the skin without leaving scars. Moral of the story here? Hands off the pimples. Do you know the saying "You are what you eat"? Well, every 27 days, your skin completely regenerates with cells made from the nutrients we get from our food. For the sake of my complexion, I try to avoid anti-inflammatory foods (dairy, processed and greasy foods) and focus more on fruits, vegetables, grains and responsible protein. In addition to the fact that I am aware of my diet, in the past year I have become accustomed to taking collagen supplements to noticeably improve the elasticity and firmness of my skin. I add a scoop of the collagen peptides from Vital Protein to my smoothie or coffee every day (it's totally tasteless). Collagen not only strengthens hair, skin and nails, but also combats aging. We lose collagen already at the age of 25 years. Early delivery of collagen is not a bad idea. In addition, the supplement lets your skin shine! Like the food we consume, water intake is crucial for a clear and hydrated skin. Sure, it's the oldest trick in the book and you're probably tired of hearing it, but it's non-negotiable for a healthy complexion. Drinking two to three liters of water a day flushes out inflammatory toxins and helps the skin to moisturize itself (hello, natural glow!). The benefits of drinking water go far beyond skincare, so reducing blemishes is just one of the benefits of having healthy water intake. I always have a reusable water bottle with me so I will not forget to keep sipping. If clear water is not your thing, try seasoning with lemon wedges, mint leaves or sliced berries. One of my favorite products that contributes to a flawless complexion is the SkinCeuticals micro-peel. I use this product once a week before facial cleansing in the warmer months and twice a week in winter, as cold weather means dry skin. The smoothing polish removes dry and dead skin cells from the skin surface. It also increases blood flow, which in turn contributes to a natural, healthy glow. This scrub was developed for all skin types and is particularly suitable for the repair of dehydrated, discolored or aging skin. However, it is also important not to exaggerate the exfoliation, as this can rid your skin of the natural oils.
