Hello there 🙂
Sydney was in the limelight last week thanks to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, where talented designers presented their Resort 2019 collections. I had the opportunity to travel to Sydney to see the shows in person, get a feel for the local fashion scene in Australia, and study trends on the runways.
Highlights of the week included collections from brands that offered a Sydney-specific perspective. Labels such as Matteau and Bondi Born displayed their sophisticated, minimalist interpretation of swimwear and resort clothing, styled to perfection with details such as chain link chains and headscarves. Designers like Christopher Esber and Michael Lo Sordo have designed their first collections with strong evening wear looks and details like delicate feathers and crossed silhouettes that I can always think about. Other brands, including Anna Quan and Double Rainbouu, were newer to me, but immediately impressed with their resort wear looks.
So, what are the key findings from the shows that affect what the fashion set will wear over the coming months? Here are the five trends you should learn from the 2019 Resort runways at Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week Australia.
