Hello there 🙂
As we get dressed, the stylish look is at the top of our priority list, but sometimes the functionality is high up there too. That's when you do not want to freeze your knowledge at the height of a New York winter. I'm in the process of getting through the coldest season on the East Coast. So you can trust that this is based on personal experience. For example, while a small crack in your favorite distressed jeans does not look threatening, I can tell you that it literally has the ability to ruin your morning commute when the temperatures are cold enough.
What else should you avoid? I broke it down into seven simple pieces and of course took with me what to wear to ensure a stylish NYC outfit. Read on to learn how the list of the seven things you can not wear in New York City during the winter look for replacement.
A cotton sweater looks just like a wool or cashmere sweater, but when the weather is really cold, you'll surely feel the difference.
We recommend avoiding mules and sandals unless you are inclined to wear a combination of sock and heel (which we fully support). Not only do they fit perfectly with your remaining cold outfit, they also release parts of your foot, which is not desirable at this time of the year.
Between long walks, subway seats and the elements, it's best to avoid white trousers, unless you want to be quick with a taxi and have little time outside. However, dark leather pants (and faux leather pants) are more durable and keep you warm and less prone to staining.
If you walk through the snow, you should wear boots with a solesole. Apart from the fact that your shoes could be ruined quickly, it is easier to slip and fall if you do not have something with traction.
While a small hole in your knee may not seem threatening at temperatures below freezing, this inch (or even centimeter) of exposed skin can literally ruin your day. Choose a pair of jeans without ribs or wear tights underneath for warmth and protection.
Since leather jackets are neither warm enough to wear on their own, nor light enough to really wear them, this darling of fashion girls does not really serve a purpose in really cold weather. Instead opt for a real winter coat – we promise it can still be stylish.
Similar to torn jeans, naked ankles are a definite no. However, this does not mean you will have to forgo your shorts for the next three months if you do not want to. You can opt for boots with a higher shaft or simply add high socks.
