Hello there 🙂
For reasons that include staying home far more than ever, making our living spaces more comfortable and beautiful has become a priority for many of us this year. Instead of planning our next faraway vacation, we planned our home office setups. With these priorities shifted, you may even have noticed a change in your Instagram feed lately, with people looking more than ever for inspiration within their own four walls. My point is that sophisticated interior design and the home decor that goes with it are always a topic of interest, but maybe more than ever. So I went straight to the source of many housing trends to find out what to look out for in 2021.
Brigette Romanek is a Los Angeles-based interior designer and founder of Romanek Design. She counts Gwyneth Paltrow, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Joe Jonas, the ballerina Misty Copeland and Jenni Kayne as her clients and is one of them Architectural Digest"AD 100" designer. When she kindly agreed to tell me about the home décor trends for 2021, I knew I had to make some very stylish predictions.
So without further ado, scroll down to find out what seven trends Brigette Romanek is looking for and then buy them for your own home. (And be sure to check out her stunning work here.)
"Bouclés, alpaca, wool, sheepskins, these are all fabrics that you feel comfortable with. We all need that now. Not to mention that they are breathtaking!" – Brigette Romanek
"This can be any color you want to use – just the soft, warmer version. One that isn't as bright is calming and sophisticated."
"With all of the galleries online now, you can find incredible artwork for your walls and pieces that you are comfortable with at all different prices. Art is an important part of design."
"Curved sofas, egg-shaped coffee tables, carpet-shaped rugs – I love all of these. They bring a natural coolness to the room."
"I've seen a lot of people reusing old pieces and thinking about it. It's nice to find something older with a soul that makes the room special."
"Mix it up! Always! This approach will make the room last for years. You might switch a fabric or two, but the pieces stay."
"I hope this is not a trend and instead has more and more to do with design. When we become aware of the materials that are not good for us, we work to create better versions. With paint, carpets and that's it "We now have many more secure versions for home use."
Next, the four home decor trends that Scandi girls are focused on are fixed.
